OLA offers a nurturing environment for our smallest Cougars to grow and develop into successful, faithful students.

Curriculum:

The intention of the Preschool curriculum is to foster a love of learning and to build a strong foundation in our Catholic faith through learning about virtues and prayers.The preschool curriculum utilizes The California Preschool Learning Foundations and Curriculum framework, which focuses on children’s cognitive, speech and language, social/emotional and physical development.The OLA Preschool uses the ZOOPHONICS curriculum for literacy.Learning sounds of letters is an exciting way to build phonetic awareness and understanding.We focus on both child-initiated and teacher learning activities.We aspire to create a developmentally appropriate classroom that builds onyour child’s natural curiosity.

Class Set-up:

There are two classrooms in the Preschool:

• Cougar Kits Class: 16 students
• Cougar Cubs Class: 17 students
• 16 students per classroom and two instructors

Schedule:

• Five days per week from 8:00 to 11:45am
• Extended care offered until 5:00pm
• “Lunch Bunch” offered to Cougars who would like to stay for lunch with friends (lunch not provided)
• Preschool school calendar is the same as the K-8 school calendar

OLA preschool offers effective, engaging interactions and environments that set up the child for success.It is our belief that children are successful when meaningful learning occurs.Our goal is to prepare students for Kindergarten and beyond.

Our Lady of the Assumption Preschool is a participant in Raising Quality Together (RQT), Sacramento County’s Quality Rating and Improvement System. RQT is an affiliate of Quality Counts California dedicated to raising the quality of early learning and care.

Required Forms for New Preschool Students

All forms are to be sent directly to the Preschool Office no later than the first week of May.

• A copy of the child’s immunization record
• The six forms below. Please note that the Physician’s Report requires a physician’s signature and all sections are required to be completed.
• Physician’s Report (LIC 701)
• Preadmission Health History (LIC 702)
• Consent for Emergency Medical Treatment (LIC 627)
• Identification and Emergency Information (LIC 700)
• Child’s Personal Rights (LIC 995)
• Parent’s Rights (LIC 613A)
