Admissions Policy

Priorities

Our Lady of the Assumption School admits students whose ability and any previous general record in academics and conduct indicate the probability of success. Special consideration for admission is given to siblings of current students, to students of families registered and active in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, students who promote from our preschool program, and to students who are Catholic.

Age For Admission

The entry level for Our Lady of the Assumption School is preschool. Students enrolled in preschool are given priority for enrollment in kindergarten and subsequent grades. Students who are not enrolled in preschool cannot be assured of a place in kindergarten.

A child may be admitted to Transitional Kindergarten who is turning 5 years old between June 1st and December 31st; these children do not yet meet the age requirement or the social and/or academic requirements for the school’s Kindergarten program.

A child may be admitted to Kindergarten who is 5 years of age on or before September 1st of the current year; applicants must be developmentally ready, which shall be determined through appropriate screening.

A child may be admitted into the first grade who is 6 years of age on or before September 1st of the current school year.

Admissions Policy:

Our Lady of the Assumption School admits students whose ability and any previous general record in academics and conduct indicate the probability of success. Special consideration for admission is given to siblings of current students, to students of families registered and active in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, students who promote from our preschool program, and to students who are Catholic. Incoming kindergartners must be five years old by September 1st. Students may be admitted in any grade as space permits. Applicants will be evaluated based upon any prior record of academic performance, conduct, and OLA Assessment Results. Students will be assessed for readiness to determine placement in the appropriate grade level.

Consistent with its Catholic mission, Our Lady of the Assumption School admits students of any race, color, nationality, religion, ethnic origin or disability, and does not discriminate in its programs or activities. In the event Our Lady of the Assumption School cannot address an accommodation for students with special academic or physical needs, school personnel will assist the family in finding an appropriate learning environment to address those needs.
