Our Lady of the Assumption (OLA) PreSchool is located in Carmichael, CA and was founded in 2011 as part of the existing OLA School. We have very dedicated and gifted teachers with many years of service in early childhood development.
We provide nutritious morning and afternoon snacks for our children at no additional charge. We are a nut free campus. Lunch is not provided.
The preschool offers two large, age appropriate classrooms, both kids-only and adult-only bathrooms. There is also a large enchanted garden area with natural play structures to foster learning through imaginative play. Ample opportunity for gross motor-skill and mind development is provided to foster the whole child.
preschool classes begin at 8:15 a.m. and end at 11:45 a.m.
All classes offer Extended Care until 5:00 p.m.
Our Lady of the Assumption School (K-8) is also located in Carmichael, CA and is in the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento. Our parish was established in 1950 and our school in 1955 by the Sisters of Loretto. We have very dedicated and enthusiastic teachers with many years of service at OLA.
Kindergarten through fourth grade operate in self-contained classrooms. Grades five through eight are organized departmentally. A resource program is in place to help students with special needs. We have a large library, science lab, fine arts room, computer lab and general meeting room. We also offer an Extended Care Program on school days from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
All classes include Faith Formation, Science, and play as a part of the daily routine.
All Classes utilize the Get Set for School Curriculum, the Preschool Curriculum designed by Handwriting Without Tears. GSS was created to “draw on different senses and encourage active learning. By touching, hearing, speaking and moving, children are better able to develop strong physical, social and emotional and cognitive skills.” The curriculum uses the “power of children’s ideas, interests, and abilities to foster academic achievement.” (http://www.hwtears.com/gss/educators)
For the three-year-old child. Includes introduction to reading readiness and mathematic skills through calendars, circle-time, centers, story time, and manipulatives and play. (8:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.)
The four-year-old program utilizes ‘Get Set for School’ curriculum, the preschool program from ‘Handwriting Without Tears’. Get Set for School is a readiness curriculum with a developmental approach founded on research on how children best learn. It breaks difficult concepts up into simplified tasks. Allowing children to be independent, actively involved and use their imaginations as they prepare for TK or Kindergarten.
In additional, the Explorers work, explore, play and manipulate their way through circle-time, centers, movement; music and games to encourage language literacy and math mastery. (8:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.)
